In the state of Nebraska, high school sports play a big role in the lives of many young adults. The Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame highlights these sports and athletes from across Nebraska in a new and interactive way.

The motto is “Honoring Our Past to Inspire the Future,” and Assistant Executive Director Mike Rasmussen says the a visit to the hall could be a memorable experience for Nebraskans of all ages.

“I’m a history teacher, and I really believe you don’t know where you’re going until you know where you’ve been. We really want all age groups to have the opportunity to come in and really enjoy what we have.”

The Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame is located North of Haymarket Park in the Nebraska School Activities Building at 500 Charleston Street in Lincoln.

There are 473 inductees in the Hall of Fame—including athletes, coaches, and athletic directors.

Rasmussen says the hall is constantly changing and has made a dramatic transformation in the past few years.

“In January of 2014, we were in the process of developing exhibits,” said Rasmussen. “When I started, I had things on card tables. It was very primitive in that stage, but since then we have added a number of interactive exhibits and have progressed quite a bit.”

If you would like to visit the Hall of Fame, they are open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
