Phyllis DeBuhr- Beatrice
A three-sport standout at Beatrice, Phyllis (DeBuhr) Mazour was Class A All-State in volleyball, All-Conference in basketball and a premier pitcher in summer softball leagues. A six-rotation player on the volleyball court, she led Beatrice to the state tournament. She played volleyball and softball at Kearney State, starting as a hitter on the volleyball team before making the transition to setter where she was named to the NAIA National Volleyball Championships all-tournament team. As a pitcher, Phyllis was a two-time All-American pitching the Lopers to the 1987 National Championship where she didn’t allow an earned run while pitching five complete games. She was the Lincoln Journal Star’s women’s College Athlete of the Year in 1987.
