Kathi Wieskamp has experienced Nebraska athletics from nearly every angle, as an athlete, coach, educator, administrator and broadcaster.
A standout volleyball, basketball and track athlete at Norris High School, Kathi went on to become a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter for legendary Nebraska volleyball coach Terry Pettit, earning All-Big 8 playing and academic honors. After college, she began a career with Lincoln Public Schools that included coaching and teaching at Lincoln Southeast, serving as assistant athletic director at Lincoln North Star and athletic director at Southeast, and ultimately becoming Director of Athletics and Activities for LPS.
In this episode of Legends Rock, Kathi shares memories from the early days of Husker volleyball, the legendary athletes and coaches she encountered throughout her career, her experience as a woman helping lead high school athletics, and her perspective on the incredible growth of volleyball in Nebraska. Today, she remains close to the game as a color commentator for various networks.
