Arnie Johnson- Albion/Boone Central

Arnold “Arnie” Johnson’s Cardinal football teams at Albion and Boone Central feathered the school’s nest with four NSAA trophies. They were Class C-1 State Champions in 2001 and 2014 and runners-up in 2004 and 2012. The Oakland native’s first job was at Howells, where the Bobcats qualified for state three times between 1979 and 1986. At Albion, his first team went 9-2 after the Cardinals were 0-9 the previous year. A run of 14 consecutive state appearances started in 1997. Arnie went out on top with Boone Central’s undefeated Class C-1 State Championship team in 2014. He was the consensus boys’ Coach of the Year for 2014-15. His career record was 239-122-1.
