At Brad Feeken’s memorial service, his career record wasn’t mentioned—or that his teams at Gretna won back-to-back Class B championships in 2016 and 2017 and qualified for state 11 of 20 years, even after the school moved to Class A. What mattered most to him was helping seventh graders, especially boys, become avid readers. The Hastings native, whose father, Dale, was a high school coach, played basketball for Hastings High and at Doane University before a knee injury shortened his career. Brad died in December 2023 from a rare form of cancer. His career record was 353-141.
