A consensus all-state player, Danny Noonan led Lincoln Northeast to a runner-up finish in the Class A state playoffs in 1982.  Playing on the offensive and defensive lines for the Rockets, Noonan lettered three times and earned a scholarship to play at Nebraska. Playing middle guard for the Cornhuskers, he twiced was named All-Big 8 and earned All-American honors his senior year, leading the team in sacks and tackles for loss.  The Big 8 Male Athlete of the Year for the 1986-87 school year, he was a first-round draft pick by the Dallas Cowboys, Noonan had a six-year NFL career with the Cowboys and Green Bay Packers.
