DEVERELL BIGGS

Omaha Central (Class of 2010)

Deverell Biggs came up—well—big in key moments of his athletic career. At the 2010 state track and field meet, he won the high jump on the first day with a mark of 7-0, earning his second all-class gold in the event, which tied for seventh all-time. He returned later on the final day in the long jump, moving up one place when the Eagles won a tight race with perennial champion Kearney. He was the state’s consensus Boys Athlete of the Year, also starting on three Class A basketball championship teams. His college basketball career included stops at West Texas, Seward County Community College, Nebraska, and Texas Southern in Division I. He wenton to play 10 seasons of professional basketball.
