Nebraska’s premier 400 meter runner, Lukas Hulett won back-to-back all-class gold medals in the 400 as a junior and senior. He earned the Nebraska Gatorade Track Athlete of the Year in 2006, winning the 200 all-class gold to go with the 400, and he ran on Bellevue East’s medal-winning 400 and 1,600 meter relays at the state track meet. He set the state record (46.98 seconds) the week before at the district meet with the eighth-fastest time in the nation that year. He also won the 400 at the Kansas University Relays and placed second at the National Junior Olympics meet in Baltimore and the Golden West Invitational in California. At the University of Nebraska, Hulett became a four-time All-American, an eight-time national qualifier and an 18-time medalist in Big 12 Conference meets.
