Coach

Opposing coaches dread defending the wing-T offense that Ron Mimick has employed in his fourth decade of winning football teams at the David City parochial school. Since 1991, the Monarchs have won seven Class C1 or Class C2 state championships and been in two other finals. They were in state finals from 2011 to 2015. Mimick is the ninth football coach to reach the 300-win milestone. His career record stands at 324-130 after the 2022 season, including 276-85 at Aquinas. He also has two Class C state championships and two runner-up teams in boys track. The Columbus native and graduate of Columbus Scotus and Wayne State started out at Stuart, then Parkston (South Dakota), Hastings St. Cecilia and Hartington Cedar Catholic. He was the Lincoln Journal Star boys coach of the year in 2015.
