With Bob Greco in its dugout, Omaha Westside made the Class A state baseball tournament as much a part of the school’s May calendar as graduation. The Warriors qualified 21 times in his 26 years as coach, including a stretch of 17 consecutive appearances. He led them to 12 state finals, winning seven championships. With many of the same players, he also coached six American Legion Class A state championship teams. He finished with 573 high school wins. His background included playing at Omaha South, Indiana, Iowa Western, and Dallas Baptist; coaching summer ball at Omaha Bryan, Omaha South, and Fremont; and serving on the staffs at Iowa Western and Bellevue University.
