Bob built a cross country dynasty from nothing.  While teaching social studies at Malcom High School, he established cross country as a new sport in 1985.  With the boys’ and girls’ teams qualifying for the State Meet that first year, the program established a tradition of excellence.  Over the next 36 years, the Malcom boys won 10 State Championships and with the girls, have collected a total of five Runner-Up trophies.  In all, Malcom boys and girls have qualified for state as a team more than 50 times, and their runners have won more than 45 State Meet medals.  An assistant coach in track, Bob also was the head girls’ basketball coach for 14 years and head football coach for seven years.
