A three-sport star who earned 12 letters in high school, Casey Beran led Sargent to the state football semifinals, averaged a double-double in basketball and set the school record in the shotput. An all-state pick at defensive end, he rushed for over more than 1000 yards his senior season, a year after leading his team to the championship for schools too large for the eight-man playoffs. In basketball, he broke the school records for rebounds in a game and a seanson and for career field-goal shooting. At Chadron State, Beran was a two-time Division II All-American defensive end and the conference’s defensive player of the year, setting a career record for sacks. He scored 11 touchdowns as a short yardage fullback.
