Dan Sorge- Shickley
At one stage of Dan Sorge’s coaching career at Shickley, the Lady Longhorns were unbeatable in volleyball. They strung together six consecutive State Volleyball Championships between 1987 and 1992 and won 104 matches in a row. Both were state records. Sorge took Shickley to another state title in 2005 and previously had coached its boys to the state finals in 1996 and a State Championship in 1997. The Geneva native was an assistant at Ohiowa for three years before coming to Shickley in 1980. His career records were 677-196 in volleyball and 281-85 in basketball. He was the Omaha World-Herald Girls’ Coach of the Year in 1991 and the Lincoln Journal Star honored him two years later. He was National Volleyball Coach of the Year in 2000.
