K.C. Cowgill- Grand Island Central Catholic
K.C. Cowgill had a knack for athletics. The 2000 World-Herald Athlete of the Year earned All-State honors in volleyball and basketball and put together an undefeated State Championship season on the tennis court. Three-point shots were her specialty, thanks to shooting 500 per day in practice. She set state and school records from beyond the arc and finished her basketball career as the state’s second-leading all-time scorer with 2,427 points. K.C. played college basketball at Nebraska before transferring to Southwest Missouri State, where she was the Missouri Valley Newcomer of the Year. She set school records for 3-pointers made and led the nation making 53 percent of her 3s.
