Karen Hand- Lincoln

In a Lincoln Public schools career that encompassed 33 years, Karen Hand oversaw the expansion of girls’ sports in the school district. Hand started in the district’s athletic office as an assistant to oversee junior high athletics. As her duties expanded, she played key roles in the addition of high school softball and girls’ soccer as well as the inclusion of triple jump and pole vault in track. She was promoted to Athletic Director in 1990, a post she filled for 23 years, playing a key role working with the Nebraska School Activities Association in producing numerous State Championships.
