A trail-blazing innovator, Sam Koch changed the way everyone in the football world looked at punting. While setting all major punting records for the Seward Bluejays, Nebraska Cornhuskers and Baltimore Ravens, the meticulous and hard-working Koch developed a wide repertoire of punts to adapt special-teams play according to the situation. Koch played multiple positions in high school, leading Seward in tackles as a senior. But it was his foot that earned all-state honors. He started all four years in soccer and as a kicker/punter in football. Also a member of the Seward basketball and American Legion baseball teams, he focused on kicking at the University of Nebraska, where he earned All-American honors, and went on to play in the NFL for 16 years, punting for the Ravens in their 2013 Super Bowl championship.
